Morpho Ehemeroptera (1998)

Morpho Ehemeroptera

Morpho Ephemeroptera, a quintet for male dancers inspired by the life cycle of mayflies, offers a glimpse at the behavior of an unknown anthropomorhic faerie species in the wild. The work is set to naturally occurring bird and insect sounds and to the prayer, sygyt, sung in the Tuvan throat-singing style which in Mongolian culture serves to bridge the gap between this world and that of the divine. This piece was my first dance, and premièred at Sarah Lawrence College in 1998.
