Prayers for Girls (2019)

Made in response to visual artist Anthony Cervino’s sculpture Rescue Party (2018) from a larger series of his work entitled Long Lost, Prayers for Girls is a series of dance vignettes suggesting the communal rituals or dream-like scenarios imagined by individuals within some form of anachronistic spiritual community skirting lines between religiosity and irreverence, innocence and sexuality, and childhood and adulthood. The piece, with costumes by Ciera Wells, sound design by Robert Pound, and lighting by Kent Barrett, was commissioned by Dickinson College and premièred there from November 22nd-24th, 2019.
